When to Plant Zucchini Seeds
When you should sow zucchini seeds depends on the region where you’re growing your seeds. For most regions, between September and January is recommended. However, tropical regions can grow zucchini between February and September.
How to Plant Zucchini Seeds
As an easy-to-grow vegetable, the process of growing zucchini seeds is pretty straightforward. You should sow your seeds in a full-sun spot, in well-drained soil that has been enriched with well-rotted manure or garden compost.
Once the soil is at least 20°C, sow your zucchini seeds directly 12mm deep and 60cm apart, with rows separated by 80-120cm. As they grow, you should mulch your soil to prevent weed growth, feed your seeds with a slow-release fertiliser, and water the root zone regularly. You should either stake your plant or allow it to trail.
Once your plants begin to produce yellow flowers, your zucchini plants will soon begin to produce fruit. They will be ready to pick when the fruits measure around 20cm in length and have a glossy skin.

Companion Planting with Zucchini
To help your zucchini seeds grow to their full potential, companion planting is highly recommended. This is the process of growing companion planting seeds around each other so that one can benefit the other, or be mutually beneficial.
For example, growing bean seeds or pea seeds provides the soil with nitrogen, which is beneficial for your zucchinis’ growth. As well as their elegant appearance, it’s worth growing marigold seeds near your zucchini seeds, as their scent can help to deter several different pests.
