What Are the Benefits of Sprouts and Microgreens?
If you're not a fan of waiting for homegrown veggies to grow or live in a climate not suitable for increasing your kitchen favourites, then Mr Fothergill’s sprouts and microgreens are the perfect solution. They can be grown all year round and quickly, making them the perfect introductory seed for any budding gardener.
How to Grow Sprouts and Microgreens
To grow Mr Fothergill’s sprouts and microgreens, place a tablespoon of seeds into a jar or twin seed sprouter. Cover the container with a fine, clean cloth, and secure it with a rubber band. Soak the seeds in warm water overnight, then pour out the excess water through a cloth. Repeat this process twice a day. If using a seed sprouter, pour water into the top tray and remove excess water once the sprouter has completed draining. Repeat this two or three times a day.
After learning how to grow sprouts and microgreens, it’s helpful to know how these superfood seeds differ. The primary difference between sprouts and microgreens is that sprouts are typically eaten when the seed has germinated, but before the leaves have fully formed. Microgreens, on the other hand, are eaten once the first two leaves have formed, and you only eat the stem and the leaves, not the roots or seeds.
