Growing Tomato Seeds in Your Garden
In temperate climates, sow your tomato seeds indoors in mid-winter using either seed trays, peat pellets, or small pots. Once two true leaves have formed, your tomatoes can be planted outside, provided the risk of frost has passed. For outdoor cultivation, sow from late August to October. In tropical areas, however, we recommend sowing from May to July. Stake as soon as you’ve transplanted your tomatoes to avoid disturbing the roots.
Pinch out any side shoots regularly to contain the plant. Water your tomatoes regularly at the soil level and remove the lower leaves as they discolour. If you really want to give your tomatoes the best opportunity to thrive, feed your plants every two weeks with a high-potassium liquid fertiliser and seaweed solution.
