How To Grow
Corymbia ficifolia (Red Flowering Gum) seeds can be sown anytime in warm areas or after the last frost in cooler regions. Fill 10 cm (4 in) pots with moist, sandy soil, water thoroughly, and compress lightly. Place one seed flat on its side in each pot, covering it lightly with soil to the thickness of the seed. Keep the pots in a warm, shady position, maintaining moisture and protecting from slugs and snails. Germination typically takes 2 to 4 weeks. Once seedlings reach 20 cm (8 in), transplant them to a permanent location, watering well and continuing regular watering until the plant is established. This tree thrives in full sun, responds well to hard pruning, and requires well-drained soil.
