Long White Icicle Radish Seeds
Grow your own Long White Icicle Radishes with white radish seeds from Mr Fothergill’s. If you’re looking for something different from the usual red radish, this variety is what you need. Its white skin and mild flavour make it a great addition to your meals without being overpowering.
These quick-growing radish seeds are just about the easiest and most economical crop to grow and are ideal as a 'catch crop' sown between rows of slower-growing vegetables. They grow well as container seeds and in raised beds, too, giving you more ways to enjoy homegrown produce without needing a large garden.
For a container garden, grow your Long White Icicle radish seeds alongside our cucumber seeds or beetroot seeds. Or for even more choice, browse our complete collection of vegetable seeds instead.
How To Grow
Long White Icicle white radish seeds couldn’t be easier to grow, making them a great choice for beginner gardeners. Sow the seeds thinly in autumn or winter, 6mm (1/4in) deep, in rows 25cm (10in) apart. Once the second leaf has grown, thin the seedlings to 3-5cm (1-2in) apart. Repeat thinning every two weeks to allow for healthy growth and strong roots.
Radishes are quick to mature, and you can typically harvest them in 4-6 weeks. They are ready to harvest when the roots have reached about 15-20cm (6-8in) long and have a firm texture. If you leave them in the ground for too long, they can get woody or overly peppery, so don’t wait too long or you’ll miss their peak. Harvest radishes early in the morning when the weather is cooler and they hold the most water.
