Marketmore Cucumber Seeds
Grow your own fresh cucumbers at home with organic Marketmore cucumber seeds from Mr Fothergill’s. Marketmore Cucumber is an excellent outdoor slicing cucumber known for its resistance to powdery and downy mildew. The dark green, straight fruit it produces has a crisp texture and fresh flavour, so whatever recipes you’re growing them for, this variety fits the bill: fresh in a salad, as part of tzatziki or raita, in soups, in kimchi, and more.
Marketmore Cucumber does best in warm, sunny areas, making it the perfect organic seed for Australian gardens. It grows well when the temperature stays between 20°C and 30°C. It’s also a solid choice for areas where other plants might struggle with humidity or diseases, thanks to its resistance to mildew. It will grow best in rich soil in a warm, sunny location. It is also suitable for culture in large pots and grow bags.

How To Grow
Learning how to grow cucumbers is easy if you follow a few basic rules: they don’t like cool weather, they love water, they want to climb, and they do well with a strong compost mix.
Sow Marketmore Cucumber seeds in a prepared seed bed, two per position, spacing them 90cm (36in) apart. Cover them lightly with fine soil, then firm them gently and keep them moist. Once the seedlings emerge, thin them to one seedling per position. Keep the area moist and weed-free as they grow.
For an earlier crop, sow seeds in pots of seed compost. Place each seed on its edge just below the compost surface, water well, and maintain a minimum temperature of 20°C (68°F) until they germinate. Once the seedlings are established, gradually harden them off before planting them out in December.
Pinch out the growing tip once six leaves have formed to encourage side shoots. Do not remove male flowers, as they are essential for pollination. Water regularly and feed as the fruits develop. Harvest at around 20cm (8in), and the plant should keep producing until the end of the growing season.
