Explore Our Full Pumpkin Seed Range
Pumpkins are a prime example of patch-to-plate gardening, growing into a variety of sizes with equally vibrant flavours once harvested straight from your vegetable patch. Explore our full range, including our Golden Nugget Pumpkin Seeds, which are ideal for smaller plots and provide a rich, nutty flavour that works beautifully with pies and soups. To make a statement, there are also Jarrahdale Pumpkin Seeds that grow into a spooky grey that tastes excellent grilled or roasted.
When Do You Plant Pumpkin Seeds?
Pumpkin can be planted in the garden during springtime, ideally around September. For pumpkin seeds to grow, plant them in seed-raising trays or pots before carefully transferring them to a vegetable patch once true leaves have formed, or sow direct if the soil is warm and frost-free. Allow between 70 and 120 days from seed to harvest.
Growing Pumpkin Seeds
The beauty of pumpkin seeds is that they can grow into large, wonderful vegetables without a great deal of maintenance. For best results, sow the seeds between 2 and 2.5cm deep and water them regularly. Before transferring to the garden, pumpkin seeds can be moved onto a windowsill. This ensures that they get a clear view of the sun to flourish.
Once they have been transferred to a vegetable patch, they will be able to withstand cooler temperatures (as long as there is no frost). Space seeds at least 1 metre apart from one another, forming a shallow depression wide enough for the seedling to capture moisture.
