Red Flowering Gum WILDFLOWER - NOT AVAILABLE TO WA/TAS/SA
Botanical Name: Corymbia ficifolia
Formerly listed as a Eucalypt, many will recognise the beautiful red flowers from Australian Christmas-time bouquets where the blooms make a stunning and distinctive addition to the table. The trees are also widely used as hardy street trees where they reach 12-15m. The beautiful glossy foliage provides shade and summertime protection and even the bark is attractive. Highly recommended.
We recommend the use of Wildflower Seed Starter Granules for improved germination rates and speed. These granules provide chemicals normally found in bushfire smoke that stimulate native seed germination.

How To Grow | Sow in warm areas anytime. In frost prone areas when danger of frost is over. Fill 10cm (4in) pots with moist sandy soil, wet thoroughly and compress. Sow one seed flat on its side in each pot and cover lightly with soil mix to the thickness of the seed. It is beneficial to add Wildflower Seed Starter granules to soil surface. Keep moist. Place in warm shady position to germinate. Protect from slugs and snails. Water regularly until about 20cm (8in) high then transplant to permanent position. Water in well and then weekly until established. Responds well to hard pruning. |
