How To Grow

Raspberries are a versatile fruit used to make mouthwatering  jams, sauces, purees, souffles or simply eaten fresh with cream or ice-cream. They are suckering plants that grow best in cooler climates and prefer a rich, well-drained soil in a position that does not have exposure to the hot afternoon sun. When planting create a mound of 10-1Scm to assist drainage, mulch and keep well watered during growing period. Attaining a height of 150cm they should be supported with a trellis or grown up against a wall. Chilcotin is a floricane variety, producing flowers and fruit on second year growth. To maintain your raspberry plant, lightly prune older canes in winter ensuring previous season’s growth remains.

Feed plants with a complete fertiliser as fruit is forming.
