Postage Charges

We have a tiered postage charge system depending on the type of products you order, your location and the value of your order, please see below.

Note to WA Customers! Since June 1st 2013, The Dept of Agriculture and Food in WA have significantly increased their inspection fee for any seed sent into the state. As this cost is covered by us, we have unfortunately had to increase our postage charges to WA. Due to this change, it has also meant we can only send our orders via courier which then means we can only send to street addresses, not to PO Boxes, we are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Small orders under $12 - Due to the cost of processing orders we have had to implement a $4 handling surcharge for small orders under the value of $12. Our postage charges are outlined in the table below:

Group 1 – Standard seed products

On standard seed orders, postage and handling is $2.60 (WA $9.00 includes quarantine charges) for any number of seed packets. We also offer an express post service for $7.95 (not available to WA due to the quarantine requirements) for seed only orders (Please note our order cut off time in the Delivery Times section below).
Small order handling surcharge of $4 applies for orders under $12. See table above for details.

Group 2 – Jiffy® products, seed raisers, Kitchen Garden pots, Kitchen Seed Sprouters and gardening tools and accessories

If your order includes any Jiffy® products, Seed Raisers, Grass Hair Kits, Kitchen Garden Pots, Kitchen Seed Sprouters, Small Darlac tools or gardening accessories, we set the postage and handling charge at $8.00 (WA $12) for any number of products. This is due to the size and weight of these products. 
Small order handling surcharge of $4 applies for orders under $12. See table above for details.

Group 3 – Bulbs, Summer Produce, Grow Pots and Mini Vegetable Gardens

If your order includes Bulbs, Summer Produce, Grow Pots, Mini Vegetable Gardens or large Darlac tools, we set the postage and handling charge at $13.00 (WA $15) for any number of products. This is due to the size and added weight of these products, as they may contain potting mix.

Delivery Times

Orders are processed at 7:30am each business day. If you order before this cut off, your order will be processed the same day. We aim to deliver your order within the following timeframes from successful payment, depending on your location, although there may be a slight variation depending on the postal services in your area:

  • Eastern seaboard & SA - 5 to 7 days 
  • Express Post - 1 to 2 days for addresses within the Express Post Network. (Express Post is only available for Standard Seed Product orders)
  • WA, TAS and NT - 7 to 10 days (subject to WA Quarantine requirements*)

*With recently introduced WA Quarantine regulations, we endeavour to deliver orders within 7-10 days. There may be further delays as part of the inspection process. For further information, please refer to

Delivery Outside Of Australia

Currently, we do not ship outside of Australia. Please visit Mr Fothergill’s UK for international orders.

Delivery of Restricted Goods to Western Australia and Tasmania

Certain varieties cannot be sent to WA or Tasmania. These are marked in the description and we will remove these from your delivery (and not charge you) should they be ordered for delivery to these states.

Refunds & Replacements

All goods we sell must be of acceptable quality and fit for the purpose they are sold for. If your seeds do not grow for whatever reason we will happily provide you with a replacement. For all other products, please contact our head office through our contact us web page. Please note we are not required to give refunds under any other circumstances.
