How To Grow

Growing Instructions (included with kit)

Tomato - Roma

When: Early Spring to Summer - all year round in tropical areas.

Where: In pots or trays of seed-raising mix in a sunny but sheltered position.

How: Sow seed 5mm deep, firm down gently and keep watered. Seedlings appear in 7-14 days.

Care: Transfer to final growing position when sturdy enough, spacing plants 50cm (20") apart. Pinch out side shoots and fertilise regularly once first trusses have set.

Harvest: 12-14 weeks from sowing.

 

Cucumber - Lebanese

When: Spring through Summer.

Where: Direct where they are to grow, in full sun.

How: 12mm (½") deep in rows 100cm (36") apart.

Care: Sow 3-4 seeds in a clump and thin to 2 strongest seedlings. Keep well watered and fertilise regularly.

Harvest: When fruits are 4-6" long .

 

Onion - Rosso Lunga di Firenze

When: Spring to early Summer.

Where: In a prepared seed bed or direct into pots or containers in a sunny position.

How: Sow thinly in rows 25cm apart covering lightly with 5mm of fine soil. Firm gently and keep watered. Seedlings appear 14-21 days.

Care: Generally no thinning is needed. Keep watered and weed-free. For continuity, sow every 4-6 weeks.

Harvest: 8-12 weeks.

 

Basil - Sweet

When: Early Spring to late Summer, all year round in warm areas.

Where: Direct into sowing position or in pots. Likes rich, well-drained soil and a warm, sheltered position.

How: Sow thinly and cover lightly with fine soil. Firm gently and keep watered.

Care: When large enough, thin to 15cm (6") apart.

Harvest: All year round. Pick leaves as required.
