Plant Height: 1.8m
How To Grow
Sow 5cm deep into dark, damp soil spacing seeds 15cm apart. Grow in double rows 30cm apart. Keep the roots cool and weed free; a mulch of garden compost, peat or straw will help considerably.
Ensure soil has been well prepared with compost and organic material.
Seedlings emerge 7-10 days.
Water regularly after germinating.
Regular harvesting will result in increased yields.
When To Plant
Spring to Mid Summer
Additional fertiliser is not required as legumes will produce their own nitrogen.
Unlike other beans, runner beans do not self pollinate & will need help from beneficial insects.
During high evening temperatures, flowers may not set & will fall off. Spraying flowers with a fine mister spray will assist with pod set.
