Hippeastrum Flamenco Queen (season:Aug-Sep)
Botanical Name: Hippeastrum x hybridum
Bold and beautiful statement plant. There’s none more striking than this gorgeous Hippeastrum with its large flowers liberally marked with scarlet red. Potted up in September, they make a wonderful Christmas gift and look equally festive in the garden
How To Grow | Prepare the soil by adding organic matter and compost. Plant in a moist well drained soil, protected from wind but with plenty of sunlight. Leave neck of bulb protruding above the soil and side water weekly during dry spells as Hippeastrums don’t like overhead watering. Spray lightly with fungicide and protect from snails and slugs. For Christmas flowering, keep bulbs in the crisper section of your refrigerator until mid November |
