Strawberry Torrey (Crowns)
Widely adaptable variety that produces lots of large to medium sized fruit.
How To Grow | Plant: Crown to be on soil surface 5-7cm apart in full sun. Grow in a raised bed or in pots. Surface mulching between plants prevents weeds, helps retain moisture and keeps fruits clean. Weed control is important. Strawberries are shallow rooted so require ample moisture for good growth and fruit production. Black polythene sheeting makes an excellent mulch. Just cut small slits for each plant making a depression in the soil beneath to direct water to roots. Pick any runners off progressively. Fertilise lightly at planting and after fruiting. Plants produce for three or four years. |
