Picked when young, turnips are a delicious vegetable - easy to grow and very hardy. They grow quickly so can be sown between rows of slower growing crops.
When to plant: Late Summer and Autumn How to grow: Sow 6mm deep direct where they are to grow, in rows about 15-20cm apart. Sow seeds sparsley, cover with seed raising mix, firm down and keep moist. Thin seedlings to 10-15cm apart. Keep weed free and well watered. Harvest when young. Harvest: 9-12 weeks
