When to plant: Throughout the year as required. How to grow: Sow 0.5in (1.5cm) deep. Allow 12in (30cm) between rows. Sow sparingly to avoid thinning out; ideally allow 1in (2cm) between each seedling. Each seed should then produce a single well-shaped shallot.
