A beautifully scented herb which can be used in drinks and deserts as well as flavouring fish and chicken. It will be valued as much in the flower border as in the kitchen. A perennial growing up to 45cm (18in) high.
When to plant: Spring through to Autumn How to grow: Sow 15mm (half-inch) deep in final position, allowing 45cm between plants. Lemon Balm thrives in a light loamy soil which does not dry out, and a partly shaded or sunny position. Use a good quality potting mix if growing indoors and keep moist. Harvest: Use fresh as required
