Cat's Paw

A low-growing variety of Kangaroo Paw featuring bright yellow flower stems topped with bronze-gold, 'furry' flowers. Kangaroo Paws like well-drained soil, full sun and low humidity. It is important not to water excessively into the crown of the plants to prevent Ink Spot. Kangaroo Paws make excellent cut flower or mass-planting specimens and are easy to grow.

We recommend the use of Wildflower Seed Starter Granules for improved germination rates and speed. These granules provide chemicals normally found in bushfire smoke that stimulate native seed germination.

When to plant: All year round except in hottest or coldest weather.
How to grow: Sow seeds in warm areas any time. In frost prone areas when danger of frost is over. Sterilize the seed raising mix by placing in an oven for 30 minutes at 180ºC. Fill a 15cm (6in) pot to within 2-3cm (1in) from the top with moist sandy soil and compress. Sow seeds on top of soil but do not cover. It is beneficial to add Wildflower Seed Starter granules to soil surface. Place pot in a shallow container and pour in water to submerge one quarter of the pot. Top up as required. Cover pot with clear polythene – remove polythene when germination commences. Place in warm shady position.
