Anagallis - Sapphire blue flowers that tumble out of baskets (seedlings emerge 21-28 days). Sow in Autumn into seed boxes, just covering the seed. Press down. Keep moist. Transplant when large enough to handle to pots or trays. Plant out into sun or dappled shade, spacing 20cm (8in) apart.

Dahlberg Daisy - More correctly, Thymophylla, it has feathery foliage and bright daisy-like flowers (seedlings emerge 14-25 days). Sow in Autumn into seed boxes, just covering the seed. Press down. Keep moist. Transplant when large enough to handle to pots or trays. Plant out into sun or dappled shade, spacing 20cm (8in) apart.

Lobelia - Pure white flowers fall over the edge of containers (seedlings emerge 10-14 days). Sow in Autumn, also in Spring in cold climates, into seed boxes. Sow shallow, firm and cover lightly with seed raising mixture. Keep moist. Transplant seedlings when quite small (2-3cm), spacing 10cm (4in) apart. Water regularly.

Nasturtium - Vibrant semi-double blooms and semi-trailing habit (seedlings emerge 10-14 days). Sow all year, Spring only in cold climates, direct where they are to flower, 1.5cm (half-inch) deep. Sow two seeds together and space 20cm (8in) apart. Keep moist.

Petunia - A wide colour range of open flowers (seedlings emerge 10-14 days). Sow in Spring into seed boxes. Scatter seed on the surface, cover very lightly with seed raising mixture, press firmly and water gently with a fine spray. Germinates best in warm conditions (22-25C). Keep moist. Prick out into trays and then transplant to garden when large enough to handle, spacing 20cm (8in) apart in sunny position. Water well.

Thunbergia - Stunning orange flowers and without eyes (seedlings emerge 15-21 days). Sow in Spring direct where they are to grow, 1cm (half-inch) deep. Firm down and keep moist. Thin to about 25cm (10in) apart.
