One of the most spectacular and versatile of our summer flowers. Excellent for all manner of pots and containers as well as for garden beds or growing indoors. Easy and fast growing. Balsam loves full sun but can be grown in shade too.
When to plant: Spring or Autumn
How to grow: Prepare the soil well by adding compost and rotted manure. Sow 5mm (quarter-inch) deep in flowering position. Press seeds into the top of the soil or seed raising mix. Do not cover as these seeds need light to germinate. Keep well watered, particluarly in hot dry weather. Flowers: 12 weeks after sowing
